Our District

Welcome to the Fredericksburg District!  We are 74 United Methodist congregations with one uniting vision.  Our congregations, ministry settings, and people are very diverse, but our passion is to Make Disciples.

We seek to Make Disciples through four entry points, Unity, Spiritual Formation, Empowering Our Laity, and through Mission ministry in our neighborhoods, throughout our Conference, and around the world.  We value lay and clergy as equal and effective partners in ministry.

Most importantly, we invite you to connect with one of our congregations of ministries to grow deeper in faith and to transform the world for Jesus Christ.

Our District Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Ted Smith, accepts the official nomination for his episcopal candidacy from the 2016 Annual Conference.

“What Can I Do You Ask?” Help Alleviate Suffering
He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Tend My sheep. John 21:17

Jesus modeled and taught by example. Jesus demonstrated the method so clearly that today we are able to replicate healing and helping ministries all over the world. In this post resurrection scripture Jesus even reclaims and restores Peter to a good relationship. Peter’s self-worth and confidence was surely shaken after the incident of denying Jesus three times. So, Jesus uses the three time question and answer series to restore Peter to faithful discipleship. Jesus also uses this question and answer series to teach us the vision of ministry at the core of servanthood. I imagine we would all welcome the opportunity given to Peter, a chance to right the wrong of betraying our relationship and loyalty to Christ.
